Eddie Langton, Langtons Hotel
Langtons Kilkenny has not been sold, is not for sale and is not going anywhere.
The owners of the popular John Street hotel made the statement to quash speculation that the famed business was going to be sold.
“There is no truth to the rumour," Eddie Langton told the Kilkenny People this week. "We have been here for 85 years, and we are here to stay. In fact, the notion of selling Langtons has never once been discussed as a family!”
Langtons is an institution and an iconic landmark building in Kilkenny. Eddie is extremely proud of the long history that his family have in the wonderful city of Kilkenny.
Originally a traditional bar, Langtons has grown throughout the years to become a restaurant, hotel, music venue, theatre/cinema, wedding venue, shop, bakery, conservatory, gardens, and a tearoom.
Langtons Hotel facilities include 34 professionally designed rooms and penthouses. It is also widely regarded as one of the best wedding hotels in Leinster.
“We cater for many diverse bespoke weddings each year," he added. "The team is very proud of what we have achieved."
"One of our recent weddings came all the way from America. They had originally booked Adare Manor in Limerick for their wedding. However, when they visited Kilkenny, they fell in love with the city and with Langtons as their new wedding venue for 200 of their guests.
"They were so positive and appreciative about their experience of Kilkenny, and we were delighted to host them,” he said.
Music and entertainment have been at the heart of Langtons, culminating in the development of SET Theatre. With live music, comedy, theatre, and performances from a wide array of artists.
“There's lots happening here with live performances in the Set Theatre. We are home to dozens of concerts every season, with shows booked right up to May of next year. Festivals such as the Kilkenny Roots, The Cat Laughs, Kilkenomics and Kilkenny Arts Festival are hosted annually at the venue, and our weekly gigs and events are a must see."
