Kilkenny student receives All-Ireland Scholarship Award

Huge congratulation to two past pupils of Borris Vocational School, Philip Byrne Kathleen Fenlon who
recently received All-Ireland Scholarship Awards sponsored by JP McManus.

The value of each All- Ireland scholarship is valued at €6,750 per annum. The scholarships apply for the duration of the
undergraduate programme chosen. The students in receipt of these scholarships are exceptional and have demonstrated their dedication and ability to achieve exceptional Leaving Certificate results.

The award ceremony itself took place at the University of Limerick.

Guest speaker at the occasion was John Kiely, the Limerick Senior Hurling Team Manager.

Also in attendance was JP Mc Manus and the Minister of State for the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Mr Niall Collins, T.D, along with recipients, their parents and principals of the schools involved.

Philip Byrne from Graignamanagh, Kilkenny is the son of Ann and Ger. Philip sat his Leaving Certificate in 2022 achieving the maximum of 625 points. Philip attributes his most memorable moments at Borris Vocational School to his involvement with the Amber Flag committee which promotes mental health around the school.

Philip is currently studying Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences in University College Cork.

Kathleen Fenlon from Ballymurphy is the daughter of Tom and Margaret. Although achieving an exceptional Leaving Certificate, in her citation, Kathleen attributes representing the school at camogie as being her best moment. Kathleen is currently studying Accounting and Finance in Maynooth University and credits this choice of her interest in the business world.

The whole school community is very proud of their incredible achievement and wish them well for their future.
