Castlecomer boys at the Wolfwalkers One Book One Film launch at the Dolmen Hotel with Tomm Moore and Niall de Burca
Presentation/Boys’ Schools Castlecomer is part of the One Book One Film for All initiative, based on Cartoon Saloon's Wolfwalkers.
The project is supported by KCETB, in collaboration with Cartoon Saloon. Pupils from second - sixth class in Presentation and fourth to sixth class in the boys’ school, and first years in Castlecomer Community School are participating.
The pupils will read the graphic novel, and will watch the film. They will engage in art activities and more, with many of these activities shared at home, with families.
Scavenger hunts for families took place where the children and families took photos from a suggested list.
Earlier this month, there was a trip to the Watergate Theatre to view a screening of the Wolfwalkers film. Matchbox Mountain, an online event will take place on October 11.
The children are all working hard on writing and art activities and there will be an exhibition of family and school-created art and writing in Rothe House from October 19-21. Families will have free entry into Rothe House and the gardens during this time.
The event will culminate in a live quiz, for all local participating schools on October 25. This quiz is being hosted by the community school and teams of five (at least one adult) will have a chance of winning great prizes. There will be spot prizes also on the night, including vouchers for Castlecomer Discovery Park and other local businesses. Thanks to Helen Walsh and all at KCETB for organising this project.
