Mayor of Kilkenny Joe Malone has welcomed news today that Bruce Springsteen will return to Kilkenny to play Nowlan Park next year, and hopes that a second local date may be on the cards.

"As mayor, I welcome the announcement that Bruce Springsteen is coming back to Nowlan Park. It's going to give us all a big boost.

"There could be the possibility of a second night, if the first one is a sellout. It's brilliant for the local economy - city and county.

"I'm delighted to see a concert coming back to Nowlan Park after an absence for a few years. I'd like to see a concert there every year."
