Civil-War stories to be told in Kilkenny later this month

Mount Juliet was raided by the Anti Treaty IRA in the autumn of 1922

The South Kilkenny Historical Society recently welcomed back Liz Gillis to South Kilkenny to deliver a lecture on civilian experiences of the Irish Civil War – 'Unheard Voices of the Civil War: The Civilian Experience'.

Liz has delivered many lectures to the society but it was her first visit in person' since October 2018.

The next society event will be held on Friday, November 24 when Mr Jack Burtchaell will deliver a lecture 'Government in Ireland after the Civil War'.

This lecture, which will deal with the setting up of government structures and administration systems, will be held in Mullinavat Parish Hall (opposite St Beacon’s Church), at 8pm and will be also live streamed via Zoom.
