Kilkenny students raise 414 shoeboxes for Hope Foundation Appeal

Students in Loreto Secondary School Kilkenny have made a large contribution to the Hope foundation Shoe Box Appeal.

The Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal is an annual campaign where thousands of people across Ireland donate shoe boxes filled with gifts for children affected by poverty in countries in Africa and Eastern Europe.

Ms O’ Callaghan and Ms Ryan along with 4E social education raised 414 shoeboxes for the team hope shoebox appeal which were sent away today (November 22).

Each shoebox is an unconditional gift, given to a child with nothing asked for, or expected in return; no pledges, no obligation to go to church or attend classes; 'no strings attached'.

Shoeboxes are given to children, aged between 2 and 14 years old, who are most vulnerable. In many cases this means children who are living in poverty.

These are identified with the help of charities, local churches or with the help of the local government.
