Permission granted for large housing development in popular Kilkenny town

Big news for Thomastown in County Kilkenny

Permission has been granted to Kevin Moore Building Contractors Ltd. to develop a large housing development in Thomastown, County Kilkenny.

Original plans submitted to the council back in March sought to construct 54 housing units on a site at Cloghabrody in Thomastown.

These were to be comprised of 6 four-bed houses, 42 three-bed houses, 2 two-bed houses, 2 three-bed duplex houses and 2 two-bed duplex apartments.

Also sought were new vehicular and pedestrian/cycle entrances off the R448 Dublin Road, a temporary construction phase site entrance off the R700 Kilkenny Road, and all associated landscaping and site development works.

These plans were were subsequently subject to a period of further information at the request of the local authority.

The applicant was requested to submit, amongst other items - an archaeological impact assessment, a public lighting design, a construction environmental management plan, a revised waste management plan, a flood risk assessment and an audit in relation to childcare facilities in the Thomastown area.

Permission was subsequently granted, subject to 31 conditions, on December 18, 2023.
