The play will be stage over four nights from January 31 to February 3 at 8.15pm nightly.

Set in the mysterious landscape of the bogs of rural Ireland, Carr's lyrical and timeless play tells the story of Hester Swane, an Irish Traveller with a deep connection to her land.

Tormented by the memory of a mother who deserted her, Hester is once again betrayed, this time by the man she loves and father of her child. On the brink of despair, she embarks on a terrible of vengeance as the secrets of her tangled past are revealed.

The large cast includes former well known Players such as Biddy Hawe, Gerry Carroll, Caroline Doran, Stephen Gilmore, Jackie Kennedy, Bobby Murray Olivia Reade and Willie Kearney. Shrughawadda Players also welcome new young members Sophie Gilmore, Aisling Bryan, Emily Freaney, Jake Butler, Thomas Deegan.

It has been a sad year for Shrughawadda Players as former director Michael Dowling, who set up the drama group in 2005 and directed until 2018, passed away in 2023.

He possessed a great knowledge of drama and was very talented. He will be sadly missed and sympathies go to Patricia, his wife and all his family.
