Gardai are seeking the public's help in finding a Shetland pony who was stolen from the Newpark Hotel's mini-farm over the weekend.
The diminutive but gregarious equine animal was poached from his enclosure at the back of the hotel some time overnight between Saturday and Sunday. He was discovered missing just before 9.30am on Sunday.
It's not the first time one of the mini-farm's residents has been reported AWOL. The attraction opened four years ago, with an assortment of alpacas, miniature pigs, goats, rabbits, birds and more.
The stolen pony is microchipped and should be identifiable once he has been located.
The missing creature has a heavy coat, short legs, widely spaced eyes and small ears. Shetlands are an intelligent and very strong breed of pony, used for riding, driving, and pack purposes.
Keep a look out for him. If anyone sees the pony or is offered the pony for sale, be aware that he is stolen goods and you will be potentially liable for prosecution if he is found in your possession.
