Pictured above is the signing of a commitment from government to LEADER funding right up to 2020 with €7,791,572.91 in vital funding for rural communities across Co. Kilkenny.
“I know that communities across Kilkenny are very eager to access this funding, for the benefit of local groups and organisations. One of the great strengths of the LEADER programme is that it puts funding decisions in the hands of the communities where the money is spent; local decisions by local people. The LEADER programme will fund a wide variety of projects in Kilkenny over the coming years; projects large or small; projects with economic, social or environmental dimensions,” said Minister Heather Humphreys.
Now Kilkenny LEADER are calling a meeting in the Springhill Hotel for July 28.
The amount for funding is a considerable drop from previous funding programmes forwarded to LEADER and the meeting is sure to here mixed views - both happy to receive funding and the need for more monies being made available to LEADER funding.
