Steven Lamb and Tim Maddams from Channel 4’s hit series River Cottage will host the latest of their residential cookery courses at the Croan Cottages culinary destination in South Kilkenny later this month.
Croan Cottages has become a favourite outpost for River Cottage star Steven, and the weekend course on September 24-25 will be hands on, comprising a series of workshop in which students will learn to prepare the very best of seasonal produce.
‘It’s great to be able to teach a residential course from a working smallholding, so close to the produce we’ll be learning to cook up in new and exciting ways,” said Steven.
“The residential aspect gives us the opportunity to really get to know our students and enjoy one another’s company in learning and living together as a group.”
Croan Cottages are award-winning holiday cottages on the grounds of a charming 18th Century Manor House, and during the courses, participants cook, learn, eat and drink with key members of the River Cottage team.
Croan has been managed as a working smallholding for more than a decade by Francis Nesbitt and Niamh McCole who were originally inspired by the River Cottage TV series to escape city life completely and move to rural Kilkenny.
That move has enabled them to promote a greater connection to foods which can be produced and enjoyed locally.
A Taste of River Cottage at Croan Cottages with Steven Lamb and Tim Maddams will run from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th September and costs from €640 (pps, full board).
A limited number of non-residential places are also available.
