Two great GAA clubs combine in Strictly Let's Dance fundraiser

Gladrags on for Strictly.

Two great local GAA clubs have teamed up to launch their exciting fundraiser 'Strictly Let's Dance' competition.

They may be rivals on the hurling pitch, but Lisdowney and the Fenians of Johnstown will combine forces on Saturday, November 12 for what promises to be a thrilling dance event at the Lyrath Estate Hotel. That's not to say the competition won't be fierce.

Thirty-six men and women are set to take to the dancefloor where they will compete to become champions. None of the dancers have any dance experience, so they will be swapping hurls for hairspray as they embark on their journey to the stage.

The group began training a few weeks ago with choreographer Rachael Ellard of Vesper Dance Studio, who says the audience are in for a spectacular show.

“It is great to get to know all of the participants,” she said.

“I have a lot of characters on my hands. As with all our shows we plan on putting on a magical event with lots of variety and an incredibly high standard of dancing. The dancers will be fundraising for their clubs and I hope the local communities get behind them and support them. We will be keeping people up to date on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/strictlyfenianslisdowney with all the backstage fun.

Tickets are on sale and Rachael is warning to get them now, as they are selling fast. They are available from any of the dancers or directly from both clubs.
