"This road has been nothing short of a catastrophe for us. It has been the source of nothing but pain and grief since it was first constructed."

The words of Father Paschal Moore at a public meeting held this evening to discuss the Piltown bypass, and the number of deaths and road traffic collisions that have occurred on the stretch of road in recent years.

A crowd of at least 200 people turned out at Piltown Community Hall to voice their anger, their frustrations, and their steadfast determination to bring an end to the carnage that has plagued this south Kilkenny community. A number of those who have lost family members, or who have been injured in incidents on the road, made powerful speeches calling for something to be done.

The meeting was constructive. There is considerable agreement locally on a solution. Now, it must be implemented - enough is enough.
