Bus strike: Some trains to Kilkenny station also affected

Mac Donagh Junction Rail Station.

Train passengers in Kilkenny are experiencing disruption this morning as a result of the all-out bus strike which has been in effect since midnight.

The country’s rail network has also been affected by picket lines where bus and train stations share a depot. There is limited service on Irish Rail’s Dublin – Waterford line, which goes through Kilkenny.

A number of trains have been cancelled this morning and passengers are advised to check in with Irish Rail for information on their route. The 6am and 7.10am trains from Waterford were cancelled, and the 18:25pm Waterford to Heuston train will operate from Kilkenny only.

Bus Eireann passengers are also facing a difficult day of having to make alternative travel arrangements.

See here for rail updates and here for bus updates.
