Kathleen and Mick Delaney, of Altamount Park, Kilkenny, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
To celebrate, they had a blessing in the family home conducted by Fr Sean O'Connor followed by a party in the James Stephens clubhouse on the night.
The huge attendance was a fitting tribute to two characters who are well loved and widely known.
Mick was one of the best liked gardai stationed in Kilkenny and his kindness to those in trouble was legendary. Family members came from Kilkenny, Carlow, Waterford along with retired gardai and neighbours. A great night was enjoyed, with flowing conversation, fine food and drink, singing and dancing, and music provided by DJ Pat Treacy.
In lieu of gifts, the couple asked that donations be made to the Beaumont Hospital Foundation, and a total of €1,450 was raised. Both Mick and Kathleen thanked all who attended, to all who could not attend but were kind enough to send cards and remembrances, and in particular to all who made a donation.
