Two youths arrested following hotel attack

Two youths have been arrested following an attack on a member of staff at a city centre hotel on Easter Sunday.

The youths entered a room in the hotel and were disturbed by a member of staff. The pair then assaulted the staff member.

Gardaí were contacted and arrived on the scene and arrested the young men, both juveniles.

They were brought to Kilkenny Garda Station where they were detained and questioned in relation to the incident.

A file is being prepared for the DPP in relation to the incident.

Meanwhile gardaí also made a number of arrests close to Nowlan Park during the League Semi-Final on Sunday afternoon.

Two youths were arrested after they broke into a car and stole laptops and electrical equipment. A plain clothes garda patrolling the area observed one youth running and gave chase. The youth was arrested and the property was recovered.

In a separate incident a mobile phone was stolen from a food outlet close to the Hebron Road area on Sunday afternoon.

Gardaí stopped and searched a number of suspects and the phone was recovered.

Gardaí are also investigating a number of assaults and public order incidents that took place in the city over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Kilkenny gardaí on (056) 772 5000.
