The minister is scheduled to visit Kilkenny tomorrow
The under-fire Tánaiste and Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation Frances Fitzgerald is due to visit Kilkenny tomorrow, with over 100 new local jobs expected to be announced.
Up to 80 of the new jobs are to be created by Taxback International as part of the Taxback group. A second jobs confirmation is expected from Carne Global Financial Services, which has said it is to announce ‘important expansion plans’.
The company has not confirmed yet the details of this expansion, or the number of jobs expected to be created. Carne is the largest independent provider of fund management company services in Ireland.
The Tánaiste will also be visiting the city’s new Medieval Mile Museum to launch ‘Invest Kilkenny’, which promotes the county as a ‘unique commercial location with exceptional connectivity, quality infrastructure, high calibre talent’.
However, this evening, Frances Fitzgerald is facing a motion of no confidence after Sinn Féin claimed it is 'abundantly clear' she needs to be forced from office due to the latest revelations in the Garda whistleblower saga. Minister Fitzgerald has found herself defending her time in the Department of Justice yesterday and today.
