It was good news for Thomastown with up to 40 new jobs announced with the development of a new company Rantalrad Ltd, makers of radiators.

How things operated back then saw Kilkenny County Council agree to the appointment of a new obstetrician at St Luke’s Hospital following the retirement of Dr H.J. Roche.

Kilkenny College took its first steps from John Street when it purchased 20 acres and Newtown House on the Castlecomer Road.

While local TD Seamus Pattison said the Department of Social Welfare treat recipients like criminals - citing different medical opinions between medical officers as a cause for injured workers not getting benefits.
