A local councillor has said parking ticket appeal figures are concerning with some traders worried over a “perceived heavy-handed approach” in the issuing of tickets.
Motorists appealed over 650 parking tickets issued by Kilkenny County Council last year with over half of these successful.
The Green Party’s Cllr Malcolm Noonan said that the number of successful appeals for both years was of concern given the fact that well over half those appealed were successful.
He said: “This should be of concern to us as a local authority where our overarching objective should be to facilitate vibrant commercial and social activity in the city centre."
