The Kilkenny based garda had 22 staples inserted in the injury and was out of work for five months
The Garda Representative Association (GRA) has posted a photo on line of the severe injuries sustained by a Kilkenny based garda when he was assaulted while on duty earlier this year.
In a tweet, the GRA said it was one of the worst images of 2017 and followed a vicious assault on the officer. "His sacrifice, and that of others, must be recognised. Arm gardai with non-lethal Tasers now before yet more suffer," the GRA said.
