St Francis Bridge will be reduced to one lane today to facilitate maintenance emergency works.

The bridge in Kilkenny City was closed for a period of time over the weekend to facilitate repairs to a gas leak.

In a statement yesterday evening, Kilkenny County Council said: "To facilitate maintenance emergency works on St Francis Bridge, there will be temporary traffic management in operation from 10am until 4pm today, December 19.

"Traffic will be reduced to one lane.

"Kilkenny County Council apologises for any inconvenience caused."

The bridge is part of the new Central Access Scheme.
