Council crews battle flooding in Limerick

Kilkenny County Council was monitoring river levels throughout the day and has issued a flood alert for Thomastown and Inistioge.

Sinn Féin Cllr Sean Tyrrell has said that the Council have advised that Nore levels at John’s Bridge Kilkenny indicated that Thomastown and Inistioge were likely to flood from 8pm onwards.

All businesses and homeowners are advised to make arrangements to protect their properties.

Crews are mobilised and sandbags were available from Thomastown Fire Station and in Inistioge from 6.30pm this evening.

Also to note is that the Circular Road, Ardaloo Road and Bleach Road are currently impassable.
