James Stephens' Military Barracks in the heart of Kilkenny City is to share in a €5m investment for a new gymnasium.
Minister of State at the Department of Defence, Paul Kehoe, has revealed “a flavour of some of the projects which are at various stages, from design to construction” across the country's Defence Forces.
He said: “A €10 million project is underway at the Defence Forces training centre in the Curragh, while €5 million will be provided for the construction of new gymnasia at Sarsfield Barracks in Limerick and Stephen's Barracks in Kilkenny.”
The 3rd Infantry Battalion at James Stephens Barracks boasts around 500 members.
