Accident saw car hit garden wall and a water fountain

The Yesteryears series continued this week with an edition from February 9, 1968. 

The main talking point in Kilkenny this week 50 years ago was a two-day strike by postal workers - described by the newspaper as a ‘token strike’.

It was 100% effective in Kilkenny city, bringing postal and telegraph services to a halt.

It also affected the distribution of children’s allowance.

One telegraph that did eventually arrive was from the Audited Bureau of Circulation and congratulated the newspaper on record sales this week.

A Tullaroan man had a lucky escape this week when the car he was a passenger in, hit a garden wall in Clonmel and also a water fountain in the garden.

He was discharged from hospital that day.

The Mahon & McPhilips Staff Social was held in the Carlton.
