The cast of Gowran panto
The festive season may have passed but Gowran Pantomime Society is still ringing out the bells with its latest production, The Hunchback of Notre Dame all this week, starting tonight, Tuesday.
This is the group's 19th production and promises to be a very special show indeed. It's full of singing, dancing and hilarious slapstick but, says writer/director Andrew O'Leary, "this is a panto with a heart".
The story takes us to 13th century Paris where a baby is abandoned on the doorstep of Notre Dame cathedral.
The orphan boy, Quasimodo, is confined to the bell tower where he must learn to ring the bells.
While there he befriends a pair of amiable but flightless pigeons, Wilbur and Orville.
What follows is a tale of comic adventure filled with song, dance and madcap capers.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame runs in Gowran Parish Hall all this week, starting tonight and including Saturday at 8pm with a matinee on Sunday at 3pm.
