Funding for ramps and grab-rails

Kilkenny County Council spent €314,792 last year through the Disabled Persons’ Grants scheme on adaptations to social housing.

The figures were published by Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy.

The DPG scheme includes stair-lifts, grab-rails, showers, wet-rooms and ramps.

It also provides funding for extensions such as the installation of a downstairs bedroom or bathroom.

It is 90% funded by the Department with 10% from each local authority’s own resources.
