"Thick snow" being reported on Kilkenny roads as motorists urged to exercise extreme caution

Be careful out there

AA Roadwatch has said there are "very poor conditions" in Kilkenny, with Gardaí in Thomastown and Kilkenny City reporting "thick snow on the roads".

Minister of State at the Department of Defence, Paul Kehoe, says it would be "ludicrous" for people to be travelling in the afternoon as the cold snap worsens.

He said people should not venture out until after 3pm tomorrow.

Minister Kehoe said roads won't be gritted from noon today to ensure the safety of personnel.
