Kilkenny County Council will be working today in an effort to get all local roads in the North and South of the County cleared and open for traffic. Residents living on these roads are asked to bear with staff. All our resources are out in these areas. Further updates will issue during the day.

Kilkenny County Council acknowledged the work of all staff, army personnel, Civil Defence, Fire Services, Gardai, HSE, Farming Community and other contractors/public who have assisted the local population in clearing roads and in dealing with emergencies that arose over the last few days.

In particular we appreciate the patience of the general public during the period of this severe weather event," director of services with Kilkenny County Council, Tim Butler said.

"Our offices are open today; all queries in relation to roads should be made to the Area Offices," he added.
