130 jobs for Urlingford, Kilkenny

An abandoned hotel shell, a terrible eyesore in north Kilkenny for many years will soon open as a state-of-the-art nursing home creating 130 new jobs.
The first phase of the Urlingford facility, a 87 bedroom unit is almost completed and will open in the next eight to ten weeks.
The second phase will be the provision of a designated 30 bedroom Alzheimer's unit which will open later in the year.
With an investment of almost €7 million, it marks a huge investment in Urlingford.
Cllr Mick McCarthy who has been liaising with the developers, Blockstar Limited, said most of the Jobs will be filled by locals. A name for the nursing home has yet to be decided on.
"It is bringing enormous economic benefit to Urlingford and North Kilkenny and we are already seeing the knock-on effect, " Cllr McCarthy said.
"Urlingford like most other villages and towns in North Kilkenny has suffered as a result of the economic downturn, this development along with other projects in the pipeline display a positivity and confidence in Urlingford," he said.
