Glanbia Ireland is to invest €160 million into its milk processing facility in Belview, south Kilkenny. It will create around 90 jobs in what is seen as a major boost for the regional agricultural industry.
The announcement will me made today by Minister for Agriculture, Michael Creed.
Planning permission for the expansion was received from Kilkenny County Council in2017.
Milk supply to Glanbia Ireland grew by 9 per cent last year and this further investment is in line with farmers' plans for expansion.
Glanbia Ireland undertook a census of its 4,500 milk suppliers in 2017 in which they indicated their intention to increase their milk supply to the company by approximately 30% by 2020.
