There are over 70 Coillte Farm Partnerships in Kilkenny with the leased area amounting to 1,380 hectares.
Fianna Fáil TD, Jackie Cahill, asked the Minister for Agriculture for the number of farm partnerships per county that farmers have entered into with Coillte; and the number of hectares this covers.
Minister Michael Creed said: "Coillte was established as a private commercial company under the Forestry Act, 1988 and day-to-day operational matters, such as the Coillte Farm Partnership Scheme, are the responsibility of the company."
The company, however, provided information in relation to the Coillte Farm Partnership Scheme and it revealed there are 73 such partnerships in Kilkenny.
This was one of the highest for the entire country and was second only to Galway and Tipperary - both of which have 99.
The company last month issued an update to clarify issues that had arisen with some of its farm forestry partnerships.
Coillte stated that the vast majority of the 630 partnerships it entered into with farmers between 1993 and 2012 are working well and as intended.
