Ireland creates further jobs with city’s purpose built tyre centre at Cillin Hill, Kilkenny

Philip Ireland has opened Kilkenny’s first state-of-the-art and custom-built tyre centre at Cillin Hill, just yards away from the NCT centre and some of the county’s busiest industrial estates and business hubs.

It’s just over 6 months since the Danesfort-born businessman opened his first tyre centre in Callan. Now, Philip has also opened up at Cillin Hill and has grown his staff to 7. And with business continuing to boom, Philip hopes to add further jobs at the 2,850 square foot new centre on the edge of Kilkenny city.

It’s a gamble but one that Philip is sure will pay off. The new hub includes a reception area and customer waiting area with free tea and coffee. Customers are invited to wait there or ramble through the many outlets located just across the road at the Cillin Hill Centre as Philip and his staff work their magic.

“We chose this location on purpose. It’s slap bang next door to the NCT centre so we can do all the necessary pre-test checks, including tyres, bulbs, headlamp focusing, wipers, laser tracking and more.

“We’ve invested in a state-of-the-art, 3D laser tracking system. There’s nothing like anywhere else in in Kilkenny. It’s absolutely the very best of the best. We’ve also put in a top-of-the-range lift which is capable of handling ambulances, vans etc. We’ve invested in the top spec on everything and will be offering an unrivalled, one stop shop for motorists,” Philip said.

Since he first started out in business in November 2011, Philip and his team have built up an unrivalled, 5 Star reputation for their 24 hour call out service. They’ve supplied, fitted and repaired tyres not just for cars, vans and trucks but are the tried and trusted team to offer expert, speedy and affordable service to the agricultural and earth-moving industries as well.

“We couldn’t and wouldn’t be making this investment at Cillin Hill but for the support of our loyal customer base. We joke about providing a 24 hour service to everyone, whether they need us for a buggy or a dump truck. But we do just that. We love what we do and it shows in the work we do for people. I’m very fortunate to have a great team working with me, a staff which includes family and some of the best professionals around.

“Callan is still very busy. We’ve a new man in there, he’s a great asset and the community there are fantastic to support. We’re very thankful to everyone there and in the surrounding hinterland for supporting the business there. We can offer them and others even more at Cillin Hill. It all builds on the 24 hour cover we offer and allows us to broaden our customer base,” Philip added.

The investment at Cillin Hill is designed to help those who want a pre-NCT check and to be a handy hub for those working at Purcellsinch and along the Ring Road, chief among these the staffs at VHI, Glanbia, Taxback, Transfer Mate, State Street and so many more.

“People are busy and they want a speedy service they can trust. They can wait here and relax in the waiting area or pop across the road to Cillin Hill, do their bits in the butcher shop, the discount centre and animal feed store, in FBD, Farm and Industrial, Connolly’s Redmills or at TJ Reid’s gym or just have a ramble about. It’s a busy spot and we’re intent on making it a whole lot busier as we open our doors.”

Philip Ireland stocks all leading brands, among these Bridgestone, Pirelli, GoodYear, Firestone, BKT Agrimax and more and he’s part of several green initiatives, including the Repak End of Life Tyres programme.
