Taoiseach Leo Varadkar.
Leo Varadkar is in Italy today where he is meeting with two Irish female architects who will form part of this year's Kilkenny Arts Festival.
The Taoiseach is visiting one of the most famous and prestigious cultural organisations in the world - the Venice Biennale and will meet with Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara - who are curating the biggest event in the international architectural calendar year.
As directors of Dublin-based firm Grafton Architects, Farrell and McNamara have been responsible for some of the most acclaimed public buildings in the world, including the Università Luigi Bocconi in Milan, for which they won the World Building of the Year Award in 2008.
With the Biennale drawing huge crowds, Farrell and McNamara come to Kilkenny to give an illustrated talk about FREESPACE – their vision of generous design, which animates the event – and the challenges of curating the world’s leading festival of architecture.
The talk with take place at 6pm at the Parade Tower on August 14 and admission is €14/12.
