Thomastown gardaí are investigating
The post mortem of a 76-year-old man who died following a fire in his home on the outskirts of Knocktopher is expected to take place later today.
Gardai are investigating the fatal fire and the scene has been preserved. The State Pathologist is expected in South Kilkenny this morning and the body remains at the scene.
Meanwhile the local community is shocked and saddened by the death of the pensioner, who was well known and liked in the locality.
