Major General Kieran Brennan and Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny Co Co Eamon Aylward
A second memorial to those who fought in World War One from Kilkenny was unveiled at MacDonagh railway station.
Major General Kieran Brennan, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Defence Forces along with Chairman of Kilkenny County Council Eamon Aylward cut the ribbon to declare a commemorative plaque detailing over 3,000 service men and women who left for The Great War - many of whom did not return.
The event included moving re-enactments with local people in period dress, and also a parade through the city to the War Memorial in the Peace Park on John's quay where those who died are remembered.
