€95,000 worth of heroin seized at Knocktopher exit of M9

A man in his forties is being detained at Thomastown Garda Station this morning and questioned in connection with a seizure of approximately €95,000 worth of heroin.

A car was stopped by gardaí coming off the Knocktopher exit of the M9 motorway at 11pm last night. One man was arrested and is being detained under section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drugs Trafficking Act.

Heroin, with an estimated street value of €95,000 was seized in the joint garda operation which involved officers from Kilkenny and Tipperary. 

"This is a significant seizure and we believe that the drugs seized were destined for South Kilkenny and South Tipperary," a garda spokesman said.
