Kilkenny's busy bring banks divert 1,300 tonnes of waste from landfill

Kilkenny has 44 individual recycling bring banks

Over 1,300 tonnes of recyclable material was saved from the landfill by Kilkenny’s bring banks in the first nine months of this year.

Figures from Kilkenny County Council show that usage at the county’s 44 individual recycling bring banks continues to be very brisk. The material collected up to the end of September included: 493 tonnes of clear glass, 441 tonnes of green glass, 303 tonnes of brown glass, 40 tonnes of steel and 42 tonnes of aluminium.

The council’s environment section says it will continue to assess the need for more service locations and review the operation to determine if it can be improved upon.
