Stamp of approval - Roger O’Reilly wins An Post  Book of the Year award

Kilkenny based artist, illustrator and author, Roger O’Reilly pictured after receiving his award

A Kilkenny-based illustrator and artist has achieved something unique.
Roger O’Reilly has won Best Irish Published Book of the Year at the prestigious An Post Book awards 2018.
It is the first book from Roger which makes the award all the more amazing.
He was shortlisted for ‘Lighthouses of Ireland’’ with a number of other dazzling books and was announced the winner at the awards ceremony in Dublin on Tuesday of last week.
Roger is originally from Drogheda, Co Louth but now is based in Kilkenny city.
He is an award-winning artist and illustrator whose career has encompassed projects as diverse as storyboarding The Vikings television series and illustrating for editorial and advertising clients around the world.
His paintings are to be found in collections at home and abroad including the Musee d’Histoire Contemporaine in Paris.
In 2016, he launched the popular and started designing and selling retro posters of Ireland in the style of the inter-war railway advertisements.
Lighthouses were always a source of fascination and inspiration for Roger who has spent the last two years working on this book.
The Lighthouses of Ireland book, published by Collins Press is now in its third reprint, such is the demand for the book.
It is an extraordinary celebration of all the lighthouses dotted along our shores and will be treasured by landlubbers and mariners alike who find comfort, romance and intrigue in these beautiful structures.
