The first part of Neven Maguire's Christmas special, filmed in Kilkenny city, hits television screens across Ireland this evening.
Episode one of 'Neven's Kilkenny Christmas' airs on RTÉ One at 8.30pm tonight (Wednesday).
In tonight's episode, Neven teaches viewers how to cook two stylish starters - trout paté (made with smoked trout from the nearby Goatsbridge Trout Farm, the longest-established, privately owned fish farm in the country), and duck confit with vegetable crisps.
Neven also presents his own take on traditional roast turkey with braised red cabbage, and cranberry and sausage meat stuffing, and a butterflied leg of lamb.
Neven will be cooking these dishes in Kilkenny Castle’s stunning Victorian-era kitchen, which was generously offered by the OPW.
In the 30 minute long show, Neven then visits The Hole In the Wall, Kilkenny’s oldest tavern, where owner Michael Conway shows viewers how to make Irish Coffee with poteen made in Kilkenny.
Part two of the programme will air on Friday December 7th, and takes part in Kilkenny's beautiful Canice's Cathedral.
