Kilkenny-born mezzo soprano, Tanya Sewell, will perform at the annual Festival of Carols at St Mary’s Cathedral on December 23.
The festive concert is a highlight on the Christmas calendar for many as the combined choirs of St Mary's Cathedral and the Unity Singers will lead the congregation in a programme which will include some of the well know traditional carols.
For the second year in succession the choirs will be joined on the night by the Kilkenny Youth Orchestra under the direction of Philip Edmondson. Tanya Sewell will sing some of their favourite carols which will add some festive cheer to the occasion.
The carol service, which has been held over the past 25 years has always attracted large crowds to the cathedral on the night. The congregation will be encouraged to join in with the choirs and orchestra in singing some of their most favourite carols. The night promises to be an enjoyable occasion and will help set the mood for the Christmas festivities.
The concert takes place at St Mary’s Cathedral on James Street at 7.30pm.
