Michelin chef Keith Boyle
A Michelin accredited chef is setting up business in Castlecomer and will open a new restaurant in the North Kilkenny town this Spring.
Keith Boyle has come to national and international acclaim and is renowned for his creative culinary skills and his passion for using local, seasonal produce.
The Restaurant Lady Anne is in the Creamery House and will be open four nights a week from Thursday to Sunday and the menu will showcase artisan foods from local producers.
Work is ongoing to renovate the restaurant which is named after Lady Anne Wandesforde.
Chef Keith Boyle has won numerous awards and will run the business with his wife, Carmel.
Keith and Carmel Boyle previously ran The Baytree Bistro in Waterford, and have now relocated to Castlecomer.
Georgina Campbell named The Bay Tree Bistro in the Just Ask Restaurant of the Year 2018 and praised Chef Keith Boyle for creating his stunning menu around Irish produce.
“Keith’s cooking has great finesse and his menus are a celebration of the best local and Irish foods, with a focus on artisan producers,” Campbell noted.
The Baytree Bistro was also named the Best Newcomer Restaurant in 2016.
The ethos of supporting local producers and makers is very much at the core of Restaurant Lady Anne.
“All the people who carried out the renovation works were local from the design to the curtains and the carpentry and electrics and lighting.
“We also asked Rosemarie Durr, a potter based at the Castlecomer Discovery Park to make the plates for us and Gary Davy from the Good Bean Coffee Company is also designing our own brand of coffee for the restaurant,” he said.
Keith is also a strong supporter of growing your own food and is also engaged with the locals about sourcing produce from a community garden.
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to relocate to this wonderful location in The Creamery House. We met John Comerford, the man who restored the building back in 2016 and his enthusiasm and passion was inspiring. We are very excited about opening up Restaurant Lady Anne,” he added.
