County Hall

County Hall, Kilkenny: The council has been updating its register for 2019

Owners of vacant sites in Kilkenny will this month receive payment demands under the Vacant Site Levy from Kilkenny County Council’s finance section.

The council has been updating its register for 2019, and as part of that, sites in Ferrybank, Callan and Castlecomer are now being included as well as those already listed in Kilkenny City.

In November, the council issued the first notifications under the legislation —for a total of 22 sites. A total of six sites were activated since the Register was established.

A number of sites were previously removed from the Register on foot of legal advice received from the County Solicitor

As of December 31, 2018, there were 37 sites in total on the Vacant Sites Register.

Owners have an opportunity to make a written submission to the council within a 28-day period of receiving notice that their site has been included on the Register.
