Butler House’s inclusion gives it a platform from which to promote the historic house as well as the wider Kilkenny tourism experience

Kilkenny's Butler House has been listed as one of six new additions in ‘Ireland’s Blue Book’ for 2019.

The book features luxurious country house hotels, manor houses, castles and restaurants with strong individual character throughout Ireland. There are just 59 Blue Book entries.

The Blue Book association is the only Irish member of the prestigious Historic Hotels of Europe, an umbrella group representing similar associations across 16 European countries.

According to the monthly report of Chief Executive of Kilkenny County Council Colette Byrne, Butler House’s inclusion gives it a platform from which to promote the historic house as well as the wider Kilkenny tourism experience.

150TH ANNIVERSARY

Meanwhile, the house will play venue to afternoon tea this Sunday from 3pm to 5pm to mark a special occasion.

Kilkenny Archaeological Society is celebrating the 150th anniversary of the first meeting of its founders who initially gathered under the name Historical and Archaeological Society of Ireland. Space is limited however and deposits are required in advance to secure a seat at the table.
