A quantity of diesel was stolen from a parked car at a hotel carpark on the outskirts of the city in recent days.
The theft took place overnight on Saturday/Sunday.
There has been a recent increase in the theft of diesel from vehicles and gardaí are warning people to be extra vigiliant and to report any suspicious activity to them.
