Gardai are appealing to motorists to drive with extreme caution this morning as freezing temperatures continue.
"We are asking motorists to reduce their speed, allow sufficient braking time and distance between them and car in front," a garda spokesperson said.
Wintry showers are forecast for throughout the day and are expected to clear this evening/
