here comes Friday's inspiration from three wise Kilkenny women

On this hopeful night for Ireland

Three wise Kilkenny ladies!

Blue Monday week hasn't turned out that bad, as Taoiseach Micheál Martin confirmed the lifting of nearly all Covid-19 restrictions from 6am tomorrow. The Taoiseach certainly spread a lot of positivity as he addressed Ireland from Government Buildings saying, “today is a good day," and "it’s time to be ourselves again".

Two Kilkenny women who are always themselves and certainly know how to show Kilkenny a lot of good days are Colette Byrne and Marian Flannery. Here are their wise words...

This was Colette Byrne's response when I asked her about her biggest obstacle in the role as CEO of Kilkenny County Council.

"I don’t see obstacles, maybe just challenges!
Our innate fear as human beings of change tends to hold us back, but standing still isn’t an option."

Marian Flannery, Festival Director extraordinaire once parted the following words of wisdom to me...

"My positivity mantra is 'this too will pass', no matter what is thrown your way, it's vital to see the positives; being positive is a mindset that we can all have with a little bit of effort!

A long time ago, I made a resolution to see the good and the positive in everything and you know what - positivity is infectious; negativity is destructive!

The glass is always half full! "

Now you didn't think I would end this week of positivity without a few words from myself?! The young lady Ebony Masuku who inspired me to spread positivity this week, kicked her week off with a video she made all about positive affirmations.

Ebony, a sixth year student in Loreto Secondary School and winner of the Kilkenny People of the Year Youth Award, kindly asked me to say some wise words at the end of the video. The words I choose are handwritten on a piece of paper, and sit under my computer screen, where I spend a lot of hours! These words have seen me through the past year...

"Life became a lot simpler when I decided

just to let some people

misunderstand me."

Think about it! Happy New Year and enjoy your freedom.
