Calling remote workers in Kilkenny to join Grow Remote Kilkenny Kats

Calling remote workers in Kilkenny to join Grow Remote Kilkenny Kats

Remote working has been around for decades but has become the norm since the pandemic and a local group is exploring options through their employer partnership scheme.

The ‘world of work’ has shifted on its axis and this has made a huge impact on our work life balance with more employees seeking better working options. Employers who engage with their employees to find out how best to navigate remote and hybrid work will have the pick of the best talent available for many jobs.

Grow Remote has been working on making “Remote Work Local” for several years now and the network of local chapters or groups has expanded across the country to include most counties in Ireland. In addition to supporting remote workers, Grow Remote works with companies to help them explore the possibilities of remote and hybrid models of working through their employer partnership programme.

Right now, there are tens or thousands of open positions available to employees right here in Kilkenny. The Grow Remote website has a selection of these jobs on their Jobs Board in companies like GitLab, Automattic and Red Hat for example. These companies might be unfamiliar to many readers, however Shopify, Revolut, Dropbox, Ebay, Deloitte and Liberty Insurance are all household names and they are all hiring in Kilkenny. We have our own companies here in the South East as well. Nearform are a Waterford born company to emerge from Tramore and are an extremely successful ‘remote first’ employer. They are also hiring across a range of roles. All you need are the skills and qualifications, a workspace and good broadband to avail of the opportunities.

Kilkenny County Council LEO have rolled out remote working hubs all over the county, availing of Community Broadband Points in Galmoy, Crosspatrick, Dunbell and Glenmore and here in the city we have plenty of options to choose from in Abbey Business Centre and New Work Junction amongst others. Several of the rural hubs are co located with childcare facilities so working remotely is no longer a ‘remote possibility’ with availability of childcare and cheaper housing in rural Kilkenny. There are plans for other community developed hubs in the county and one already up and running in Windgap. There is so much to like about the flight from the expensive urban office to the smaller urban or rural setting and all the benefits that brings.

The local chapter of Grow Remote is Grow Remote Kilkenny Kats and we are inviting five new members to join us on a social gettogether with Shannigans Walks on Saturday,  February 26 at 2.30pm. The group has five free tickets to give away to Remote Workers looking to expand their social circle and meet new people. If you would like to join us and avail of the invitation, simply get in touch through our facebook page “Grow Remote Kilkenny Kats” or contact the Chapter Lead at 087 407 9204. It’s a social event and we welcome new members to join us for craic and fun. Grow Remote Kilkenny Kats was set up in 2020 to help raise awareness of the possibilities of remote work, be a link for new people to Kilkenny and help local people develop the skills to get remote work.
