They came from all across Kilkenny, Tipperary and Waterford to support the Kilkenny Camogie All-Ireland winners Holiday fundraising Retro Jersey event in Powers of Tullahought on Friday evening.

Packed to the rafters and with live music by the Raggies, one only looked out of place if you were not wearing a club or county jersey. And what a selection was to be seen with jerseys of every colour and vintage that created banter, rekindled many rivalries, memories, and interesting stories.

A mixture of all sports and codes, with the traditional long and short sleeved, with collars and round necks bearing worldwide sporting stars names and numbers and the changing sponsors down through the years.

Behind many of the jerseys were personal stories and family achievements with an Olympic Ireland Soccer Team jersey, a Limerick 96 Hurling that was worn by John Kennedy, A green Coláiste na hEireann with a very simple crest worn in 1972 versus the Civil Service, Offaly’s Ger Coughlan’s No 5 and a Wexford Football four in a row 1915 to 1918 memorial one. A passion and Glory managers jersey featuring photos of Brian Cody and Mickey Harte.

With many players and personalities present that included the trainers of Dublin Camogie, Trinity College, and some of the Kilkenny Camogie back room team the fundraising event was supported by many members of the Mullinahone Intermediate Tipperary and Munster ladies football Champions.

The jersey winner on the night was the Thailand Tug of War Team jersey worn by Eddie Walsh of Templorum. Eddie pulled for Ireland with the Mighty Oaks in the World Outdoor Clubs Championship in Holten in the Netherlands and swopped his jersey with a member of the Thailand team.
