An exploration of your clan’s Kilkenny roots at Rothe House is an original and meaningful gift

With the announcement that Ireland’s 1926 census is to be digitised and will be published online and searchable free of charge,  there is bound to be a renewed interest in people researching their family trees. So, what about a truly meaningful unique gift this Christmas, an exploration of your clan’s Kilkenny roots at Rothe House?

With over 200,000 family history parish and civil records, Rothe House is the genealogical research centre in Kilkenny city and county. For those with Kilkenny ancestry, it is the perfect place to start any genealogical  search, or add to existing knowledge of your personal family tree.

To begin you can email as much detail as you know or your request to kilkennyfamilyhistory@rothehouse.com.

Then Rothe House’s professional genealogist, Mary Flood, will contact you by email to advise if there are records available to help in your search, and the cost involved. Any relevant  record will then be forwarded. The fee to search for and provide a single record is €59.  For an assessment of all records available by the Rothe House genealogist, there is a fee of €119. All queries will be dealt with as quickly as possible, but  can take up to four weeks so now is the time to get started.

If you want to undertake research personally, then you can log onto www.rootsireland.ie where Kilkenny’s records, together with a further almost 20 million records nationwide, are available online.

You can also meet with Mary Flood in person, who is available on Tuesdays by prior appointment.  If interested you can email kilkennyfamilyhistory@rothehouse.com to confirm your dates.
