Kells residents protest against 15 metre phone mast

A group of residents in the village of Kells came out onto the streets in protest at a communications mast being erected.

The residents have held several meetings in recent weeks and say they do not want the mast, being erected by Eircom Ltd. “We are the custodians of our village and its 12th Century Priory, that is the oldest monastic settlement in Europe. We have an obligation to look after our historic past and also the health of our young folk for future generations to come,” said a community spokesperson.
